Tire Safety Importance
Millions of drivers are putting themselves at increased risk by driving with a few bald tires according to the Rubber Makers organisation.
A tire industry survey showed clearly that virtually eleven percent of autos had one bald tire, which can increase the chance of a crash, especially in wet weather. Have to know the correct way to tell whether your tires are bald? RMA asserts checking tread depth is straightforward with the penny test :
1) Take a penny.
2) Insert Abe Lincoln's head the wrong way up into the tread.
3) If you can see all his head, your tire is two / 32 in. Deep or less and will be replaced.
Tires also feature wear bars, the group explains. These signals are raised sections spaced haphazardly in the base of the tread grooves. When they appear "even" with the exterior of the tread, it's time for tire replacement. "Tires are a critical car safety component," claims RMA President Charles Cannon. "Worn out tires can't grip the road correctly, increase stopping distances and can make contributions to sliding or loss of auto control." Constantly check tire tread depth and replace worn tires before they become a safety risk.
